The present set-up is designed to study the heat transfer in both boiling and condensation. It consists of a strong glass column containing liquid fitted with heater at bottom to boil the fluid. A water cooled coil, in the upper part of the column, condenses the vapor and returns it to the boiling liquid. The condenser cooling water rate can be controlled and measured by Flow sensor.

Temperature transmitters observe the temperature at various points. The set-up is complete with pressure safety switch,pressure sensor and safety valves. It has an interfacing unit designed by Engineers along with Labview software. This educational software allows/enables user to log the real time experimental data and tabulate the experimental/sample reading according to the requirement of experiment. User have a control on data logging, printing the stored data and preparing spread sheets in Excel. Flexible graph plotting facility is also available in the software.

•Provision for high pressure cutout for heater is also provided

•An ENGLISH instruction manual consisting of experimental procedures, block diagram etc. will be provided along with the Apparatus.

•The whole set-up is well designed and arranged on a rigid structure painted with industrial PU Paint.

Experimentation/Learning Objectives

•To plot graph of heat flux & temperature difference between metal & liquid.

•To calculate amount heat taken away by water from condensing vapor.

•Computer System: i-3 processor with DVD Drive, Windows 7/8, MS-Office pre-loaded. One USB slot required in PC for DATA ACQUISITION CARD.
