The present set-up is designed to study the flow through different orifices and mouthpieces. It consists of an inlet tank provided with diffuser, variable overflow and provision for fitting Orifice or Mouthpiece at the outlet. Orifices and mouthpieces can easily be attached and detached at the outlet of this tank without need of any extra tool. As overflow arrangement is done to vary head and keep it constant at desired level, so, many varieties of experiments can be done which enhances the study.

The present set-up is designed to study the flow through different orifices and mouthpieces. It consists of an inlet tank provided with diffuser, variable overflow and provision for fitting Orifice or Mouthpiece at the outlet. Orifices and mouthpieces can easily be attached and detached at the outlet of this tank without need of any extra tool. As overflow arrangement is done to vary head and keep it constant at desired level, so, many varieties of experiments can be done which enhances the study. Water leaves the constant head tank from the outlet where desired orifice or mouth piece is fixed. Water travels through a channel where a pointer gauge arrangement for measuring  co-ordinates of Jet is fitted. Present set-up is self-contained water re-circulating unit, provided with a sump tank, centrifugal pump etc. Water is pumped by means of centrifugal pump and passing through the inlet tank and test section, it returns back to the sump which make the system re-circulating type. Flow rate of water is measured with the help of flow measuring device. The supplied set-up is complete in all respect. Only water supply and electricity supply is to be provided by the end user for running the set-up. The present set-up has a facility to interface the system with computer which enables to log the experimental data using computer. The educational software and data-logging package has been developed for unit. The software environment base is of Labview  This software is compatible to interfacing unit designed by Engineers. This software package provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software is capable to tabulate the sample readings according to the requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared. The real time data acquisition can be done by interfacing the set-up with computer using software. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

  • Tanks will be made of Stainless Steel.
  • An ENGLISH instruction manual consisting of experimental procedures, block diagram etc. will be provided along with the Apparatus.
  • The whole set-up is well designed and arranged on a rigid structure painted with industrial PU Paint.

  • To determine the co-efficient of velocity of different Orifice and mouthpieces.

  • Electricity supply: Single Phase, 220 V AC, 50 Hz, 5-15 amp combined socket with earth connection. Earth voltage should be less than 5 volts.
