The VLSI Universal Development CPLD Trainer is a professional digital system development platform designed for studying CPLD architecture, VLSI design, programmable logic development, and digital hardware implementation. Manufactured by Micro Technologies, the trainer enables students and professionals to develop, simulate, and implement digital logic circuits using industry-standard CPLD technology.

The trainer is based on the Xilinx XC95108 CPLD and supports optional expansion for XC9536 and XC9572 devices. Programming and communication are performed through a standard PC interface using Xilinx Foundation Series Software, allowing users to create, simulate, and download digital logic designs efficiently.

Designed for engineering colleges, universities, polytechnic institutes, research laboratories, and VLSI development centres, the trainer integrates numerous onboard peripherals, eliminating the need for external interface modules during experimentation.

The development platform includes a 16 × 2 LCD module, two seven-segment displays, stepper motor controller, 8 × 8 LED matrix display, status LEDs, ADC/DAC interface, RS232 serial communication, parallel JTAG interface, four user data switches, AT24C16 serial EEPROM, 4 × 4 matrix keyboard, and a power indicator LED.

An onboard RISC microcontroller with 64 KB Flash and 1 KB RAM is provided to support embedded applications and interface control. The trainer also includes a TTL interface for connecting additional demonstration modules and supports variable clock generation for advanced digital design experiments.

The trainer is manufactured using a high-quality insulated printed circuit board with clearly printed symbols and circuit layouts. All experiment points are brought out through 10-pin FRC male connectors, and the system is enclosed in a durable ABS plastic cabinet for reliable laboratory performance.
