Working Principle

Stationary Phase Preparation

A thin layer of suitable adsorbent material, such as silica gel, is applied to a glass plate using the applicator.

Sample Spotting

A small quantity of sample solution is applied at a defined position on the prepared plate using suitable micropipettes and the spotting arrangement.

Chromatographic Development

The plate is placed inside the developing chamber containing a suitable mobile phase. The solvent travels through the stationary phase by capillary action.

Component Separation

Different sample components migrate at different rates depending on their interaction with the stationary and mobile phases, resulting in separation.

Visualization & Analysis

After development, separated components can be visualized using an appropriate detection method. Migration distances can then be evaluated for qualitative or comparative analysis.
