Soxhlet Extraction Unit Without Glass Parts
Model Number: MTD-0522
The Soxhlet Extraction Unit Without Glass Parts from Micro Technologies is designed for continuous solvent extraction using compatible Soxhlet glassware. Available in 3-test and 6-test configurations, the unit can be supplied with mantle-type, heater-type or hot-plate-type heating systems and is suitable for Soxhlet flasks ranging approximately from 50 ml to 500 ml.
Product Specification
The Soxhlet Extraction Unit Without Glass Parts is a laboratory heating system designed for performing multiple Soxhlet extraction procedures simultaneously.
The main body is manufactured from mild steel with an epoxy powder-coated finish, providing a durable construction suitable for routine laboratory use.
The unit is available with three different heating arrangements: mantle type, heater type and hot plate type. This allows laboratories to select the heating configuration most suitable for their extraction procedures.
The heating arrangement is designed to accommodate compatible Soxhlet flasks from approximately 50 ml to 500 ml capacity.
Each heating position is equipped with an individual energy regulator, allowing users to independently adjust the heating intensity according to the extraction requirements of individual samples.
The unit is supplied with vertical and two horizontal rods with clamps to support and securely position compatible Soxhlet extraction glassware during operation.
Models are available with 3-test and 6-test positions. The 3-test configuration has an indicated total rating of approximately 600 watts, while the 6-test configuration has an indicated rating of approximately 1200 watts.
Glass parts are not included as standard and can be supplied separately as an optional accessory.

Heating Options
Mantle Type
The mantle-type configuration provides controlled heating around compatible extraction flasks and is suitable for routine Soxhlet extraction procedures.
Heater Type
The heater-type configuration provides individual heating stations for compatible Soxhlet flasks and extraction assemblies.
Hot Plate Type
The hot-plate configuration provides an alternative heating arrangement for laboratories requiring plate-based heating.
Working Principle
Sample Preparation
The material to be extracted is placed inside a suitable extraction thimble or sample holder within the Soxhlet apparatus.
Solvent Heating
A suitable solvent is placed in the flask and heated using the selected heating system.
Solvent Vaporization
As the solvent boils, vapour rises through the Soxhlet assembly and reaches the condenser.
Condensation
The vapour is cooled in the condenser and returns to the extraction chamber as liquid solvent.
Extraction Cycle
The condensed solvent contacts the sample and dissolves extractable components. Once the extraction chamber reaches the appropriate level, the solvent containing the extracted material siphons back into the boiling flask.
Repeated Extraction
The evaporation, condensation and siphoning process repeats automatically, providing continuous extraction over multiple cycles.
Individual Energy Control
Separate Energy Regulators
Each heating position is provided with an individual energy regulator, allowing users to adjust heating intensity separately for different extraction positions.
This provides additional flexibility when multiple samples are processed simultaneously.
