Magnetic Field Apparatus

Model Number: MTME-08

The Magnetic Field Apparatus is designed for practical investigations of magnetic fields produced by current-carrying coils. Micro Technologies supplies the apparatus with a wooden table supporting a plastic ring wound with three separate coils of 5, 10, and 20 turns of insulated copper wire. Each coil is connected to terminals on the base for convenient electrical connection. The arrangement enables comparative experiments to investigate how the number of coil turns and electrical current influence the resulting magnetic field. Compasses are not included with the standard apparatus.

Product Specification

The Magnetic Field Apparatus is a practical experimental setup developed for investigating the magnetic field produced when electric current flows through a coil. Its multi-coil configuration enables the effect of different numbers of turns to be compared using a single compact apparatus.

The system consists of a wooden table supporting a plastic ring. The ring carries three separate windings made from insulated copper wire, providing coils of 5 turns, 10 turns, and 20 turns.

Each winding is connected to suitable terminals provided on the apparatus. This allows the selected coil to be connected conveniently to an appropriate external electrical source during an experiment.

When current passes through one of the coils, a magnetic field is produced around the current-carrying conductor. The field can be investigated using suitable external magnetic compasses or other compatible field-indicating accessories.

Micro Technologies provides three different coil configurations so that the relationship between the number of turns and magnetic-field behaviour can be investigated comparatively. Under controlled electrical conditions, the response obtained with 5, 10, and 20 turns can be observed and compared.

The apparatus can also support investigations into the effect of changing electrical current. By varying the current within appropriate operating limits while maintaining the selected coil arrangement, corresponding changes in magnetic-field strength can be studied.

The circular winding arrangement provides a convenient configuration for exploring the field produced by current-carrying coils and introduces important concepts related to electromagnetism, magnetic-field direction, coil turns, and current.

The apparatus is supplied without compasses. Suitable plotting compasses or other compatible magnetic-field indicators can be selected separately according to the required experimental setup.

With its wooden support, plastic ring, three copper-wire coils, and accessible electrical terminals, the Magnetic Field Apparatus provides a straightforward and reusable solution for electromagnetism and magnetic-field investigations.
