Light Box and Optical Set

Model Number: MTO-22

The Light Box and Optical Set is a comprehensive laboratory optics system combining a 12V, 24W light source with lenses, prisms, mirrors, slit plates, optical blocks, and color filters. Micro Technologies supplies the set for practical investigations involving reflection, refraction, convergence, divergence, ray tracing, prism behaviour, and color mixing. The light box incorporates an axial-filament lamp with flexible leads and an adjustable cylindrical convex lens arrangement for producing convergent, parallel, or divergent beams. A broad collection of acrylic optical components, mirrors, slit plates, and eight color filters extends the experimental range considerably. With all major accessories supplied in one coordinated kit, the set provides a practical solution for physics laboratories, optics laboratories, universities, colleges, research facilities, and institutional procurement.

Product Specification

The Light Box and Optical Set combines a controllable light source with a broad selection of optical components for carrying out practical experiments in geometrical and color optics. The system allows users to generate different beam configurations and then investigate how those rays interact with lenses, mirrors, prisms, and transparent optical blocks.

The light box is housed in a robust matt-black enclosure and incorporates a 12V, 24W axial-filament lamp with flexible electrical leads. One end of the unit accommodates a cylindrical convex lens in an adjustable sliding mount. By changing its position, the light output can be configured to produce convergent, approximately parallel, or divergent beams according to the experimental requirement.

Micro Technologies supplies the Light Box and Optical Set with five transparent plastic optical blocks. These include one rectangular block, one semi-circular block, an equilateral prism with approximately 60° × 60° × 60° geometry, a 90° × 60° × 30° right-angle prism, and a 90° × 45° × 45° right-angle prism. This selection supports investigations involving refraction, ray deviation, critical angle, and internal reflection.

Three cylindrical acrylic lenses are also included: one double convex, one double concave, and one thick convex lens. The double convex and double concave components share a common radius of curvature, allowing convenient comparison of converging and diverging behaviour.

Three mirrors—plane, curved parabolic, and curved semi-circular—expand the set to reflection experiments. Two slit plates provide both narrow and wide single-slit and multi-slit configurations for controlling ray patterns.

Eight color filters in red, green, blue, violet, orange, cyan, yellow, and pink further support experiments involving colored light. With this extensive accessory selection, the Light Box and Optical Set provides a versatile, reusable solution for complete ray-optics laboratory installations.

FAQs

What experiments can be performed with the Light Box and Optical Set?

The set supports reflection, refraction, convergence, divergence, ray tracing, prism deviation, lens behaviour, mirror experiments, and investigations involving colored light.

What lamp is used in the light box?

The standard unit incorporates a 12V, 24W axial-filament lamp. Flexible leads are provided for connection to a suitable electrical supply.

Can the light beam be adjusted?

Yes. A cylindrical convex lens is mounted in an adjustable sliding arrangement. Its position can be changed to produce convergent, approximately parallel, or divergent light beams.

Which optical blocks and prisms are included?

The set includes a rectangular block, semi-circular block, equilateral prism, 90° × 60° × 30° right-angle prism, and 90° × 45° × 45° right-angle prism.

Which lenses are supplied with the set?

Three cylindrical acrylic lenses are included: double convex, double concave, and thick convex. They support experiments involving convergence, divergence, and focal behaviour.

Are mirrors included in the Optical Set?

Yes. The set contains three mirrors: a plane mirror, curved parabolic mirror, and curved semi-circular mirror for different reflection investigations.

What slit configurations are available?

Two slit plates are supplied. They provide narrow and wide single-slit configurations as well as narrow and wide multi-slit arrangements for generating different ray patterns.

Which color filters are supplied?

Eight filters are included: red, green, blue, violet, orange, cyan, yellow, and pink. These extend the system to practical investigations involving colored light.

Does the equipment require calibration?

Routine calibration is generally unnecessary for qualitative experiments. For quantitative measurements, optical alignment and any angular or dimensional measuring accessories should be verified before use.

How should the optical components be maintained?

Keep lenses, prisms, blocks, mirrors, and filters clean and protected from scratches. Store individual components securely and use suitable non-abrasive cleaning materials.

Can Light Box and Optical Sets be ordered in bulk?

Yes. Bulk quantities can be supplied for physics laboratories, optics laboratories, universities, colleges, research facilities, institutional projects, and scientific equipment distributors.

Can the component configuration be customized?

Yes, component combinations, quantities, accessories, and packaging may be customized for institutional or distributor requirements depending on order volume and manufacturing feasibility.
