A 55 mm diameter test rod is mounted horizontally between the supports. The rod is fitted with an over-groove moving collar mounted on precision ball bearings, ensuring smooth, friction-free rotation throughout the experiment. This arrangement enables accurate measurement of angular displacement produced by the applied torque.

Two lightweight aluminium graduated scales, calibrated from 30°–0–30° in single-degree divisions, are mounted on adjustable pillar supports. These scales can be positioned anywhere along the support rod according to the experimental requirement. Precision pointers with clamping arrangements are supplied for observing angular displacement accurately.

The apparatus includes brass and steel rods, along with cords and hooks for applying torsional loads during the experiment. The complete mechanical assembly provides smooth operation and highly repeatable experimental results.

The apparatus is supplied without slotted weights, allowing laboratories to select suitable loading sets as required. Optional measuring instruments such as a screw gauge, Vernier caliper, and measuring tape can also be supplied for complete experimentation.
